Thanjavur
Thanjavur was known as the capital of the older Chola Kingdom and captured under the Nayaks & Marathas. Thanjavur was known as the well developed city & is also famous as the ‘Rice Bowl of India’.Now it earns the reputation of cultural center of the region and 380 kms away from Chennai, Tamilnadu. Thanjavur is also known for its handloom silk sarees, cotton sarees and the most famous of the items is the Tanjore paintings which are in great demand all over the world.
Brahadeeswara Temple was built by Raja Chola as the symbol of victory in battle and is famous worldwide due to its most exciting art. Airavateshwara Temple is also another religious attraction in Thanjavu and has one mythology of Sage Durvasa, Airavata and worship of Yama.
Thanjavur Royal Palace is situated within the Vijaynagara fort complex and was famous as the living place of the Nayak Kings. It contains Saraswati Mahal, Nayak Hall, library and the durbar hall. Gangaikonda Temple, Thirumananjeri Temple, Sukkiran Temple and The Seforji Sarasvati Mahal Library, Sukkiran Temple is also popularly known as the Navagraha temple for Venus.
Day 01: Chennai – Thanjavur
Morning you will be picked up from Chennai / Airport and driven to Thanjavur. Upon arrival check into the hotel. Evening free to relax or do your own activities.

Day 02: Thanjavur
Today in the morning after breakfast you will be taken for full day sightseeing tour of Thanjavur visiting famous Brihadeeswara Temple. Brihadeeswara Temple was built by Raja Chola as the symbol of victory in battle and is famous worldwide due to its most exciting art. In the afternoon an excursion to Trichy (approx 54 kms/1 hr) and visiting Rock Fort temple, Srirangam Island.

Day 03: Thanjavur – Chennai
Morning after breakfast you will be driven back to Chennai and drop off place to be advised.
